Polonia opens a window into the Montreal Polish Diaspora. Rich in traditions, Polish culture is lived every day in Montreal though its food, dances, religion and its long standing scouting tradition. Though outside of Poland, the Polish diaspora tries to uphold and pass on the traditions from the land that they decided or were forced to leave. These places and people play an important role in upholding the Polish language, the unique culinary traditions, the complexes folklore dances and the well rooted Christian faith. Upholding a culture outside of its cultural context also presents its challenges, especially when a given tradition seems to be stuck in a passed nostalgic time and faces the reality of a time and place that is not its own.
